| Review | Tom Ford Meteoric Eye Color Quad

There's something about dirty purple palettes and eyeshadows that I can't help but love. I think the greige trend makes purples so wearable for every skin tone and it's such an easy way to pull off purples. Well, Tom Ford is not one to ignore the hot trends in the beauty industry, so he's brought us his greige offering in eyeshadow form. Personally, I'm all for it and I have high hopes for this formula.

SHADES

This palette has a very dirty lilac vibe and I often find these palettes extremely hard to develop and work with because the shades can get muddy and become one smokey mess. However, the variety in textures in this palette prevents this from happening! It think this a very unique and interesting way to wear purple. It is also very wearable for all skin tones. Here are the shades in the palette:

Champagne Sparkle - This sparkling champagne shade conatins just a touch lilac and it looks like fairy dust on the eyes. It's a very mesmerizing and ethereal shade that can top any shade to add some interest to the look. This is the most interesting shade in the palette because of it's sublte and unique nunaces in sparkle.

Lilac Sparkle - This light silvery lilac shade is cool, light, and reflective with a sublte neutral lilac undertone to the base color.

Nude Rose - This shade is a creamy matte nuetral rose shade. This shade is a mixture of rose, soft borwn, and a cool pink. There is defintley a cool dusty pink tone to this shade and the undertone is warm and leans very brown. This isn't the most unique shade but it is essential in the balance of this palette.

Cool Bronze - The cool bronze shade has a slight cool taupe undertone and green, pink, and silvery shimmers throughout. The shimmers are very fine and just add a touch of something unique but the aren't overwhelming.

COMPARISON SWATCHES

This quad is pretty different from eyeshadows previously released the closests shades I could find were bits of other palettes but no entire Tom Ford palette looks quite like the shades here. Here, I am comparing the two lightest shades with the two lightest shades in the Shade and Illuminate Face & Eye Palette in Moonlit Violet (full review here) and I wanted to compare the matte shade from the Supernouveau Quad - discontinued (full review here).

Moonlit Violet vs. Meteoric

Swatches from left to right: Champagne Sparkle (Meteoric), Lilac Sparkle (Meteoric), Taupe Champagne (Moonlit Violet), Lilac Greige (Moonlit Violet)

The two lightest shade in Moonlit Violet are much more pigmented becuase they are a different formula and they have much less shimmer. The tones are similar but overall, they're all different shades.

The matte shade in Supernoveau is much more purple toned than the Nude Rose shade in the Meteoric Quad.

FORMULA

The celestial or sparkle eyeshadows in this palette are exactly what you'd expect. They are sheer and fine sparkle shadows that are meant to add glimmer and twinkle to the eyes but not much else. This sophisticated sparkle is one of Tom Ford's original and most iconic formulas. While they don't offer much in terms of pigment, they do adhere well to the eyes and add a lot of dimension to the eyes.

There's only one matte shade in this palette but it has a very nice buildable pigment. It starts off with a light pigmentation but it can really be built up to be quite intense. It's not really an intense shade, to begin with, but you can definitely get a lot of color out of it. The texture is very soft, smooth, and blendable. This matte formula has a very creamy and slightly dense formula that is dlightful to use.

The Cool Bronze shade is the only shimmer formula and it performs beautifully. This shade adds a nice smokey depth to the look without looking too dark. This shade applies very seamlessly and pigmented upon the first swipe. It blends very well on the lids and has a creamy texture.

All these shades perfrom exceptionally and they all wear so beautifully. What I really apreicate about they palette is the variety in the textures and shades despite them all being a similar tone. These shades don't get muddy throughout the day, which I have had a lot of issues with in regrads to previous palettes like, Moonlit Violet. I find that these shades stay distinct, offering a lot of depth and dimension to the look. They also wear all day long with little to not fading on the eyes, even without an eye primer.

THE LOOK

For this look, I applied the Nude Rose shade in my crease and blended it up toward to brow bone. Then I applied the Cool Bronze shade in the outer coner and blended it up into the crease. I finished with the Lilac Sparkle on the center of the lid and the Champagne Sparkle in the inner corner of the eyes. I think my look could have used some eyeliner but other than that, I really like the way it turned out.

FINAL THOUGHTS

This palette really impressed me with its all-around quality! These days, with so many excellent eyeshadow formulations, it's hard for me to even be remotely impressed with anything fancy that passes by my vanity but this palette is really worth praising. The formula of all the shades is all-around exceptional! They all apply smoothly, evenly, and blended beautifully. This is the first dirty lilac themed palette that doesn't look like a muddy mess after several hours and I attribute it to the vareity of textures and colors in the palette.

You can get so much dimension and vareity from these four eyeshadow shades. The mixture of these textures offers so many different placements and looks. Additionally, I think this palette is a very wearable purple palette. Many people find purples intimidating to pull off but these shades are all so flattering and wearable for all skin tones. They also all have a soft neutral undertone, which makes them easy to use and easy to wear. You can even omit the sparkle shades and go for an even more neutral look with the Nude Rose and the Cool Bronze shade. I highly recommend thsi quad! All the shades are beautifully formulated and are a joy to use. It is also a fairly unique color combination that will be so lovely for fall and winter.
