On Sunday my sister came to me with a video Tanya Burr made about a month ago called ‘Baking Oreo Cupcakes’
We decided to have a go at baking them and they actually turned out amazing. Usually when my sister and I attempt baking it becomes a messy disaster that we wish we hadn’t started but this time it was different. We followed the video, bought all the correct ingredients and this is how they turned out :)
Here’s a step by step of how we did it.
For the cupcake mixture you need:
-175g butter
-165g caster sugar
-3 eggs
-40g cocoa powder
-125g self raising flour
-1 pack Oreos
Step 1
Line your tray with cupcake cases.
Step 2
Cream together the butter and sugar.
Step 3
Crack 3 eggs and add them to the sugar and butter.
Step 4
Add the cocoa powder ( forgot to take a picture of this)
Step 5
Sneak an Oreo into the bottom of the cupcake cases.
Step 6
Spoon in the mixture on top of the hidden oreos.
Step 7
Stick them in the oven for around 15 minutes. When you get to about 12 minutes, make sure you keep checking on them and sticking in a knife to see whether they are ready or not.
Step 8
Whilst they are baking it’s time to make your icing.
For your icing you will need:
-1 pack Oreos
-100g butter
-200g icing sugar
Step 9
Mix together the butter and icing sugar till it’s smooth. It may take a while and you might get an achy arm but trust me it’s worth it!
Step 10
Use half the packet of Oreos and put them into a bag and use a rolling pin or something heavy to crush them into tiny pieces.
Step 11
Add the crushed Oreos into the icing mixture and that is your icing finished!
Step 12
When your cupcakes are ready, take them out of the oven and let them cool completely.
Step 13
Once they have cooled ice them and use the rest of the Oreos, break them in half and stick them on the top of your cupcakes. Enjoy :)
Thank you for reading and if you attempt them good luck and happy eating!
